We are just a few days away from the start of the 2022 WM Phoenix Open, and once again Trade Sound Productions is proud to supply Audio Visual gear and labor throughout the course.
“Over the tournament’s 85-year history, the Open has been known by many names, including the Western Open, the Arizona Open, the Ben Hogan Invitational, the Phoenix Open, the FBR Open and now the WM Phoenix Open. The tournament has been played at Phoenix Country Club, Arizona Country Club and TPC Scottsdale – the home course of the tournament since 1987 – and 2021 will mark the 34th consecutive year the tournament has been played at TPC Scottsdale. Aside from the TPC Sawgrass (32 years), TPC Scottsdale has the longest continuous stretch a Tournament Players Club has hosted a PGA TOUR event” (Open, WM Phoenix). This year the new name WM Phoenix Open promotes Waste Management’s goals for sustainability and innovation.
So much has changed from the days my grandfather enjoyed attending. The first year Jeremy worked The Open he gave my grandfather tickets. As an avid golfer who always insisted in walking every course he played, he was over joyed. I wonder what he would think of the changes made to the amount of attendees, and the entertainment side of the event each year. The WM Open now “routinely bringing in crowds in excess of 700,000 people for the week”(Open, WM Phoenix). This year will be no exception. New events have been added including,“Concert in the Coliseum.’ Everyone in the Valley production world is standing by to see how two mega concerts on the 16th Fairway will play out. This is no longer an event with a couple of speakers on sticks.
Trade Sound Productions is happy to provide production including RCF tops and L’Acoustic Subs along with a Midas Pro One at FOH to the Thunderbird Family Pavilion. The private tent for the families of The Thunderbirds is located on the 18th hole. This year “The Lucky Devils Band” is performing. The band infuses every event with energy and fun and prides themselves on filling dance floors (Lucky Devils Band, 2022). Amid the golf tournament there is an excess of entertainment choices throughout the course every day of the WM Phoenix Open, into the evenings including, celebrity appearances, speakers, and kids clinic . There is something for every age group. It is highly recommend to make a plan for attending using the WM website, bring lots of sun screen; and just like your grandpa would say, “where are you going to park?”
